
Haryo Damardono was born in Jakarta, on 1st Agustus 1979. He pursued his formal education and earned an S1 degree in Jakarta from University Indonesia in 2002. Haryo has joined Kompas Daily since August 2003, Haryo has undertaken various assignments. During the first three years, he was placed in various cities in Indonesia starting from Semarang, Solo, Cirebon and Pontianak. He also flew to Aceh (2005), Nias (2005) and Padang (2009) for tsunami and earthquake issues.
After being withdrawn to Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia, Haryo was assigned to the economic desk, investigative desk, political and law desk, multimedia desk, then appointed as deputy editor of the regional desk (February-October 2017).
In 2017 Haryo served as Multimedia Editor (2017-2018), and Deputy National Editor (2017). In 2018, Haryo won the Adinegoro Award, which is the highest award for journalists in Indonesia. Coincidentally, the Adinegoro Award was won for his article on kompas.id. This is the first prestigious award won by an article on kompas.id. Now, Haryo has become Deputy Managing Editor Kompas Newspaper since November 2018. Haryo is in charge both in the newspaper and digital.
