How to buy FASTag Annual Pass online: Step-by-step guide

The FASTag Annual Pass can be opted through the Rajmargyatra mobile app and NHAI website. Below are simple steps to buy FASTag Annual Pass, according to the Times of India (ToI) website.

What is the FASTag Annual Pass?

Annual Pass activated on the FASTag allows free passage of private car, jeep, van at designated National Highway (NH) and National Expressway (NE) fee plazas for one year or 200 trips (whichever is earlier), without per-trip user fee charges.

How much you will actually save?

As the total cost of this annual pass is Rs 3,000 and the maximum number of toll crossings allowed under it is 200, the average cost per toll comes out to be Rs 15. So for a frequent traveller, the higher the average cost of toll in his route, the higher will be the benefit he or she will get. For instance, if the average cost of toll is Rs 50 then the traveller would have to pay Rs 10,000 for 200 toll crossings. However, with this annual pass, he can do the same with merely Rs 3,000 which saves Rs 7,000. In case, the traveller has a preferred long route which has much higher average toll fee then his/her savings will be more.

FASTag Annual Pass validity

The Annual Pass is valid for one year from the date of activation or 200 transactions (trips), whichever comes first. Once the Annual Pass completes either 200 trips or one year from the date of activation, it will automatically revert to a regular FASTag. To continue using the Annual Pass benefits, the user will need to re-activate the Annual Pass to get 200 trips / 1 year validity.


Limitations

• Only at designated National Highway (NH) and National Expressway (NE) toll plazas.
• State Highways, city tolls, local body-managed plazas, and parking facilities will still charge the regular FASTag fee.
• Valid only for the vehicle to which the FASTag is affixed and registered.
• Using it for another vehicle will result in deactivation.

The Annual Pass will be activated after verifying the eligibility of the vehicle and the associated FASTag. Once the payment is confirmed, the Annual Pass will be activated on the registered FASTag normally within 2 hours.

Which fee plazas are covered under the FASTag Annual Pass?

It is valid only at National Highway (NH) and National Expressway (NE) fee plazas. At fee plazas on Expressways, State Highways (SH), etc. managed by State Governments or local bodies, parkings etc the FASTag will operate as a regular FASTag, and applicable user fee charges may apply.

Can I transfer my Annual Pass to another vehicle?

No. The pass is non-transferable and is valid only for the vehicle on which the FASTag is affixed and registered. Using it on another vehicle will lead to deactivation.

What counts as a single trip under the Annual Pass?

For point-based fee plazas: Each crossing of fee plaza counts as one trip. A round trip (to and fro) counts as two trips.

For closed tolling fee plazas: One pair of entry and exit counts as one trip.

Is Annual Pass mandatory or what if the road user doesn’t want to opt for an Annual Pass?
