Sensex Today | Stock Market Highlights: Indian benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty ended lower on Tuesday, after the United States issued a draft notice to impose tariffs of up to 50% on Indian goods starting Wednesday. The trade shock was the biggest drag on sentiment, with investors also digesting other pressure points, from currency moves to foreign investors selling, compounding the decline.
The S&P BSE Sensex fell 849.37 points or 1% to close at 80,786.54 level, while the NSE Nifty 50 dropped 255.70 points or 1%, to end at the 24,712.05 mark. The market capitalization of all listed companies on the BSE shrank by Rs 6.02 lakh crore to Rs 449.38 lakh crore.
Pharmaceuticals shares shed 1.7%, with heavyweight Sun Pharma down over 3% after BofA downgraded the stock to 'underperform', citing risks to premium valuations.
In single-stock moves, Vodafone Idea tumbled as much as 10% after reports suggested the government was unlikely to provide further relief on its long-standing dues.
Broader markets also came under pressure, with mid-cap shares down 1.6% and small-caps sliding 2%.

Avadhut Sathe, the flamboyant trading coach who turned stock lessons into Bollywood-style stagecraft, is under the scrutiny of India’s markets regulator Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi), even as his academy insists they sell “sanskar” and discipline, not stock tips.
In a press statement, the Avadhut Sathe Trading Academy (ASTA) said it is “fully cooperating with Sebi” but stressed that it is not an advisory firm or a financial influencer. “We do not publish or circulate research reports or stock recommendations. The London Stock Exchange has become the first company to win regulatory approval to operate a new platform allowing investors to trade shares in private companies, Britain's financial watchdog said on Tuesday.
The Financial Conduct Authority said the approval of the LSE as an operator of a Private Intermittent Securities and Capital Exchange System (PISCES) platform marked a "major milestone" in an effort to boost growth and unlock capital markets.
Britain set out draft rules last year to allow trading in private companies on regulated exchanges in the hope of stemming delistings and outflows from UK capital markets and offering private firms a quicker route to new investors.
The LSE plans to launch its private securities market later this year. The PISCES design will be delivered initially through a "sandbox", which allows the FCA to test the design before a permanent regime is finalised in 2030.

Crisil upgrades rating of Gautam Solar with stable outlook
Renewal energy solutions provider Gautam Solar on Tuesday said Crisil has upgraded its long-term rating to 'A-/Stable' from 'BBB+/Stable' earlier.
This achievement highlights the strong fundamentals of Gautam Solar and its solid growth trajectory, constantly strengthening its reputation as a reliable partner in the renewable energy market and a provider of preferred modules for large projects, a company statement said.
According to the statement, Gautam Solar Pvt Ltd (GSPL), having 28+ years of experience in solar module manufacturing, has received the long-term rating of CRISIL A-/Stable and a short-term rating of CRISIL A2+, a recognition that signifies the company's financial strength, capability, longer-term reliability and bankability of its solar modules.

- Indian government bonds extended losses on Tuesday, with the benchmark bond yield spiking to a five-month high.
- The 10-year bond yield was at 6.6112% as of 10:20 a.m. IST, compared with its previous close of 6.5967%. Earlier in the day, the yield hit 6.6212%, its highest since March 26.
- Market participants are also concerned about a widening demand-supply mismatch as the government continues to borrow at elevated rates, traders said.
- The one-year OIS rate was steady at 5.52% and the two-year OIS rate was up by 1 basis point at 5.51%. The liquid five-year OIS rate rose 2 bps to 5.77%.
