Dee Brown shared thisI was honored to host the 6th Annual Lunch with Trisha Cunningham, President & CEO of the North Texas Food Bank, during DFW Restaurant Week. For six years, this gathering has brought together an incredible group of leaders who are passionate about strengthening our communities and supporting organizations that create meaningful impact. This year's conversation focused not only on the North Texas Food Bank's critical work to address food insecurity, but also on the growing importance of advocacy in ensuring families and children have reliable access to nutritious food. Trisha shared updates on the challenges facing our region, opportunities to engage in advocacy efforts, and ways each of us can help advance the fight against hunger. The discussion generated thoughtful ideas around collaboration, civic engagement, and expanding community awareness. One immediate opportunity to make a difference is the 13th Annual Peanut Butter Drive, which helps provide nutritious, shelf-stable food to children and families across North Texas. Thanks to a matching commitment from Kroger, early donations will be doubled, maximizing the impact of every gift. Last year's campaign collected more than 85,000 pounds of peanut butter and raised over $355,000 to support efforts to combat child hunger. Dee Brown shared this#PrivateEquity firms are navigating a complex macroeconomic landscape that is marked by inflation, geopolitical tensions, regulatory friction and disrupted supply chains. Cross-border deals have plummeted 41% since 2021 and Q1 2025 saw a 28% drop in exit volumes, underscoring the mounting pressure on dealmakers. In response, PE leaders are pivoting. They are tightening focus on cost and cash, fast-tracking IT and AI, and leaning into financial tools like continuation vehicles and dividend recaps to unlock value in a volatile market. In Rachel Barton's latest piece, she explores how adaptability—not just capital—is defining the winners in this environment. 👉 Read on for the 3 strategic shifts we’re seeing across the industry. The time is now to get the balance right between short-term resilience and long-term transformation. #ValueCreation #Macroeconomics #PrivateEquity #ChemicalsandNaturalResourcesDee Brown shared thisHow private equity responds as uncertainty persistsHow private equity responds as uncertainty persistsRachel Barton

Dee Brown shared thisIn Accenture's latest perspective, Navigating the New Tariff Landscape and Its Economic Impact, our leadership team explores how ongoing #tariff and #tradewar dynamics are creating lasting uncertainty for businesses. Three potential scenarios are outlined, from de-escalation to full-blown escalation. One thing is clear; resilience is no longer optional. To navigate this new reality, companies must build strength across four dimensions: 🔹 Operational – prioritize agility and productivity 🔹 Commercial – protect and grow margins amid shifting demand 🔹 People – support the workforce through reindustrialization 🔹 Technology – enable dynamic adaptability and reliability Resilient organizations won’t just weather this storm, but they’ll gain a competitive edge.Dee Brown shared thisTariffs are no longer short-term shocks—they’re structural forces reshaping the #globaleconomy. Our latest perspective, Navigating the New Tariff Landscape and Its Economic Impact, evaluates the ongoing #tariff and #tradewar dynamics. While the magnitude of the tariffs is noteworthy, the uncertainty introduced by their volatility and scale is unprecedented. The only certainty is that executives should focus on creating more #resilient organizations. In this POV, we describe three scenarios: 1. Pragmatic De-escalation: Reciprocal tariff reductions are negotiated for most countries, as well as exemptions from select product-specific tariffs. The first step is already playing out with the April 9 pause of tariff increases. This could reduce the U.S.’ effective tariff rate back to 15-17% (compared to the estimated 29%). 2. Holding the Line: Certain trading partners secure tariff reductions from the U.S. if they offer large concessions. But for others, the threatened higher reciprocal tariffs are re-instated. Collectively, this would keep the U.S. effective tariff rate of ~25%. 3. Disorderly Escalation: Failed negotiations or retaliation would cause tariff rates to increase and the trade war could expand. This could push the U.S.’ effective tariff rate above 40% and result in reciprocal tariffs. To respond, companies need to fortify their #resilience, enabled by four pillars: 1. Operational resilience – The tradeoff between near-term management and longer-term capital investment is becoming sharper. Companies should rethink how they manage their cost structure, network and logistics, supplier strategies, and capital prioritization. Operational resilience is about agility and the determined pursuit of productivity gains. 2. Commercial resilience – As costs rise and demand stays unpredictable, companies face a tough balancing act: protecting margins without pushing customers away. Companies need to know what costs can realistically be passed on and where value needs to be created. Building commercial resilience means acting not just to protect margins, but also to grow. 3. People resilience – People are at the heart of any resilient organization. Companies need to plan for the workforce impact of reindustrialization, reshoring and restructuring—and support employees through it all. 4. Technology resilience – Geopolitical risk, trade friction and talent shortages are putting new pressure on enterprise technology infrastructure. As a result, the pursuit of “dynamic adaptability” is just as important as the quest for reliability. By focusing on these pillars, companies will strengthen their resilience—and, in so doing, turn it into a competitive edge. That’s a welcome bit of certainty in an uncertain world. Dee Brown shared thisThe age of the conglomerate is fading. Focus, agility, and specialization are driving the next wave of value creation. With $1T+ in PE dry powder and companies rethinking their portfolios, the M&A landscape in 2025 is full of opportunity for those ready to adapt. My colleague Gregg Albert is sharing some thoughts on where we're headed, and why streamlined operations and tech-forward strategy are no longer optional.Dee Brown shared thisThe era of conglomerates is near it's end. Pressured by activist investors, technological disruption, and shifting market dynamics, major corporations are shedding non-core assets to focus on high-growth, high-tech sectors. The message is clear: agility and specialization are now required for staying competitive and maximizing shareholder value. At the same time, the M&A market in 2025 is at an inflection point. Inflation, global volatility, and shifting trade policies have slowed deal activity, but companies are reassessing their portfolios to remain focused, creating new opportunities for both PE and strategic buyers. With over $1 trillion in PE dry powder waiting to be deployed, an acceleration of divestitures and industrial-focused acquisitions will aceelerate along side macro-market shaping influences. For businesses, the choice is simple—adapt to this evolving landscape or risk being left behind. Those that streamline operations, embrace emerging technologies, and stay ahead of investor expectations will be best positioned for long-term success. Alex McDaniel Gordon Stein Eric Mokrenski J. Dee Brown shared thisOur Global Leader, Rachel Barton, has shared an insightful article on the 6 key trends shaping #PrivateEquity in 2025. Among these trends, the one that particularly caught my attention is the significant role of AI. AI has transcended being a mere buzzword to becoming a pivotal game-changer for PE. Its impact spans from pre-deal assessments to post-deal value creation, revolutionizing the industry. For a deeper understanding, I recommend reading the full article. #ArtificialIntelligence #PEDee Brown shared thisI’m delighted to be in New York City, joined by an exceptional group of leaders from Accenture’s Global Private Equity business. This marks my first official day leading our #PrivateEquity group at Accenture and I am immensely privileged to do so. With our newly scaled Transaction Advisory business, generative AI assets in Technology and Operational Diligence, V&A investments through acquisitions of Impendi and Insight Sourcing, an ability to underwrite portfolio company transformation through our technology and managed services business, and strong capabilities in driving growth, we’re well positioned to help support value creation across the deal lifecycle. My leadership team and I are ready for the year ahead as 2025 brings new opportunities and considerations to the private equity sector. Led by exits, ramped deployment of capital and a double-down on the mid-market, Investment Committees are looking for more comprehensive value creation plans to maximize returns. The focus on operational value creation levers through technology and operational diligence, combined with deep sectoral insight looks set to continue as private equity firms are increasingly looking to create long-term value even beyond holding periods. Firms also show a continued, keen interest to apply generative AI both in the end-to-end deal lifecycle and to increase efficiency and speed in their own operations. Talent, as always, remains key. I hope you enjoy exploring these, and many more trends for 2025 in our latest Private Equity State of the Market. With special thanks to the simply brilliant Gary Haywood, Nicole Cohen, Martin T. (Marty) Glenn and Jordan Griffiths, our newly appointed market leaders across EMEA, Americas and APAC; Ritchie Hamm and Jesper Strømann for Private Equity leadership in #Technology and #Operations and J. Dee Brown liked thisDee Brown liked thisWe welcomed the D CEO Dallas 500 community to SMU Cox School of Business for The Capital of Capital, a conversation with Bryan Daniel (NYSE Texas), and Elaine Agather (Texas Stock Exchange | TXSE Group Inc, J.P. Morgan Private Bank). Y’all Street is helping drive the region’s growth, but more broadly, Texas leads the nation in job creation. We can trace today's momentum back decades— from the connectivity created by Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) to a business-friendly environment that has made North Texas a magnet for companies, capital and talent. That’s why it's such an exciting time to lead a business school in Dallas. At Cox, we get to bring together the leaders building this ecosystem, the faculty studying it and the students who will shape its future. #SMU #SMUCox
