    The Indian rupee strengthened against the U.S. dollar after S&P Global upgraded India's long-term credit rating to "BBB" from "BBB-" on Thursday, citing economic resilience and sustained fiscal consolidation.

    The rupee was at 87.58 to the dollar, stronger than 87.66 before the announcement, and hit a session high of 87.53 after the upgrade.
